Black-rumped Flameback (feed)

The black-rumped flameback (Dinopium benghalense), also known as the lesser golden-backed woodpecker or lesser goldenback, is a woodpecker found widely distributed in the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the few woodpeckers that are seen in urban areas. It has a characteristic rattling-whinnying call and an undulating flight. It is the only golden-backed woodpecker with a black throat and black rump.

Three of these extremely frisky ones were hard to follow and shoot. But thankfully, a nest that was fought with the common myna to acquire, made it slightly easy to capture. I have seen a great deal of these guys from fighting for a nest for breeding, having babies, feeding them, and abandoning that nest once the juveniles were big enough to fly. Managed to capture this feeding of the young one just before the juveniles learnt to fly.
