There’s something about speed that stirs the soul. But for me, it’s not just about how fast you go — it’s about how responsibly you get there.
I recently had the chance to take my Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 — India’s very own electric performance motorcycle — to the racetrack as part of the Ultraviolette Ballistic Masterclass.
Track Days and Tech Talk
Under the guidance of Abhishek Vasudev, the man who made history with the record-breaking F99, we dove deep into everything from apex angles to throttle control. As someone who’s largely used the F77 for my everyday commutes and chores, taking it to the track was a whole new experience. The torque, the control, the silence — it’s electric biking with adrenaline.
Born in Bangalore, Built for the World
The F77 Mach 2 isn’t just a cool machine — it’s a milestone. Designed and manufactured in Bangalore, it proves that India isn’t just part of the EV conversation — we’re pioneering it. With a top speed of 155 km/h, a 0-60 in under 3 seconds, and aerospace-grade engineering, this is the future of performance riding, made right here.
Clean Ride or a Farce? Let’s Talk Facts.
After sharing my experience online, a friend commented:
“As long as India’s electricity generation remains majorly coal-based, ‘clean’ EVs are just a farce.”
It’s a valid concern, and one I’ve thought about too. But here’s the thing — EVs still make environmental sense:
- Even on a coal-heavy grid, EVs emit less CO₂ over their lifetime than petrol vehicles. A NITI Aayog study showed that EVs can reduce GHG emissions by up to 30% in India.
- Electricity generation is getting greener. India added more renewable capacity than coal in recent years, and solar is now cheaper than new coal plants.
- Unlike petrol vehicles, the environmental footprint of EVs improves over time as the grid decarbonizes.
Also, there’s a huge health dividend: EVs reduce local air pollution — no tailpipe, no PM2.5 — making cities more breathable.
So while it’s not perfect, it’s progress. And every ride is a vote for that cleaner future.
Another Radius in the Circle
Biking, for me, has become another orbit in the larger universe I call Shifting Radius — my ongoing experiment with learning, living, and shifting perspectives.
From birding to snake rescues, from card tricks to comedy — each “radius” is a different pursuit, but all of them are driven by the same core: curiosity, commitment, and consciousness.
The F77 wasn’t just a purchase. It was a statement — that performance and planet can co-exist, that technology can enable responsibility, and that even in speed, there can be stillness in purpose.
